academic outcomes

As a group, District 833 Parents United will strive and support improved educational outcomes for all students in reading, writing, math, and science.

Accountability for academic success is a priority. The district needs to provide realistic goals with a clear plan to stop the downward slide of educational outcomes and provide data showing academic improvements. In addition, we expect that critical-thinking skills are at the forefront of a well-rounded education. Our candidates want to hear from all stakeholders to help find lasting solutions and solve the problem of academic decline.

Studies and data show that District 833 SoWashCo schools are not on track with MN state standards which are reported in the “World’s Best Workforce”. For instance, in the 2021-22 school year only 53% of 3rd graders were proficient in reading and math. This is important because 3rd grade reading proficiency is an indicator of high school graduation rates. Considering that 50% of every tax dollar is going to the school district, taxpayers expect to see better outcomes.

Kids participate by raising their hands in class
Grandparent approves

“I have this radical idea. Let’s teach kids the fundamentals of reading, writing and math, so they can succeed. Let’s teach them how to think critically for themselves instead of telling them what to think.”

~   Grandparent and 28-year resident of District 833
