FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY

We at District 833 Parents United support candidates who believe in transparency of your hard-earned tax dollars. We believe in providing straightforward budgets for the public that disclose how much is being spent, where it is being spent, and why it is being spent. The focus of existing and new budgets should be on addressing improvements in reading, writing, math, and science. We support candidates who will listen to the community when it comes to bonds and levies – cognizant that every dollar matters. We implore discretion in spending and that, when asking the community for money, the plan must be based solely on needs, supported by qualified data, and communicated openly. As residents of the highest tax paying school district in the area, we should be able to provide an elevated level of academic achievement.

“The 2022 bond showed clearly what happens when academics are not the primary focus of educational decisions. There seemed to be no limit on the spending request despite the economic downturn. As the primary focus of the SoWashCo educational system has shifted away from academics, data is showing this strategy is failing to improve educational outcomes."
