parent voice

We at District 833 Parents United support candidates for School Board who will be a voice for parents that want to be involved in offering input into the educational needs of their children. Our candidates will listen, work collaboratively with teachers and administrators, and be supportive of classroom needs. Parents should be invited back into the elementary classrooms, providing the 1:1 connections and small group opportunities for enrichment/remediation activities which used to be a hallmark of this district.

“My son benefitted from the reading recovery program, but it is being removed. Also, music programs are being taken out of the elementary grades. Kids should learn early on if they have an aptitude for music.”

“When my daughter was in elementary school, opportunities were provided at every grade for parents who wanted to help support the class in a targeted, effective way as directed by the teacher. After this assistance was stopped, outcomes began to slide backwards in 2016."
